Song No.36 Gitanjali - by Rabindranath Tagore

  1. GITANJALI- song No.36
Rabindranath Tagore
Rabindranath Tagore is a Universal poet.  His “Gitanjali” won the Nobel prize for literature. Gitanjali is a prayer for ennoblement of humanity.

Tagore prays to Lord to strike at the root of poverty in his heart.  He prays for strength to take the joys and sorrows of life with equanimity.  He needs strength to translate his love into fruitful service.  He prays for strength never to disown the poor or surrender before brute force.  He wants strength never to disown the poor or surrender before brute force.  He wants strength to keep his mind high above petty things.  The poem ends with his last appeal for strength to surrender all his strength to God’s will with love.
