From Home Coming - Poem - by R. Parthasarathy - Notes - SUMMARY

From Home Coming
R. Parthasarathy

“From Home Coming” is a poem written by R. Parthasarathy.  It shows the impact of the West over India and the resultant change in the life-style.

The narrator was not himself as he returned home.  He was shocked to find a total transformation in the Indian villages and towns.  He began to feel a sense of alienation. Evertything including the culture, the language and the customs was corrupted.  He could not understand the heart of his country.  He was terrified by the artificiality in the speech of the people.  The Newspapers accounted for the loss better than the scriptures.

At last, the narrator learns to adapt himself to the changed scenario.  The poem ends on a positive note that one should be content to live one’s life with the small uncertainties.
