OZYMANDIAS - Poem - by P.B. Shelley - Notes - Summary

OZYMANDIAS
                                                                                               -- PB Shelley
P.B.Shelley is a popular romantic poet. His poem “Ozymandias” reveals the supremacy of art over life.
One day Shelley meets a traveler from an ancient land. He reports that he has seen two vast and trunkless legs of stone in the desert. There is also a shattered face half covered with sand. One can not miss the frown, the wrinkled lip and pride of cold command in the face.
The sculptor should have closely studied the passions of ozimandias. The author appreciates the hand and the heart of the sculptor. They captured the traits of Ozymandias and   made them permanent by stamping them on the lifeless stone. It was found on the pedestal, ‘ I am Ozimandias, King of Kings.’ Ironically, nothing remains around the broken statue except bare and boundless sand.
