Myriad-winged Bird - Poem - by Aduri Satyavati Devi - Notes - SUMMARY

Myriad-winged Bird

                                                                                         --Aduri Satyavati Devi

“Myriad-winged Bird” is a Telugu poem written by Aduri Satyavati Devi. It was translated into English by K. Damodar Rao. The poem expresses the creative flow of words in the process of writing poetry.  She narrates using different images.  Words for her are like many coloured wings of a bird.

The poetess describes how the words accompany human beings from birth to death.  Word soothes her when she was in the tangles of alphabet. When she enjoys fairy tales, word becomes a lullaby and makes her sleep.

In her youth, word approaches her like the song of a spring season.  During her lonely journeys, word gives her strength like mother’s breast milk.  When her confidence is low, word becomes a school and instructs her. When she enters into the literary world, word cleanses her like a water fall. When she explores new horizons, word becomes her throat-box and music treasure.
