THE NEVER, NEVER NEST
-- Cedric Mount
“The Never Never Nest” is a
one-act play written by Cedric Mount. This is a witty and thought provoking
play. It is a satire on the tendency of buying things on instalment basis.
Jack and Jill were newly
married couple. One day, Aunt Jane
visited them. The couple was excited to
show their new house, the furniture, the car and other things to her. Aunt Jane did not understand how the couple
managed to buy the house and other possessions. The couple told that they got
everything by paying small advances.
They had to pay instalments to own them.
Further, they borrowed money from “Thrift and Providence Company” to pay
the instalments.
Aunt Jane got annoyed and
warned the couple not to fall in debt trap.
She gave them a cheque for ten (10) pounds and left the house. Jack wanted to pay for the car instalment
with that. But, Jill sent the cheque for
Dr. Martin, who treated her when she gave birth to a child. She had to pay one more instalment to Dr.
Martin to get the right on her baby.
This play teaches a lesson to the people who get caught in the
self-imposed financial burden.

ReplyDeleteThe Never Never nest one act play comically explained the relevant situation of today's world.. Almost everyone is paying installment they buy the things they desire evn though it can't be beared with normal earnings but we buy for our luxurious life... I don't think paying installment while purchasing something is totally wrong... But one should realize n take into account whether they can afford it... as everyone couldn't buy products by settling full payment... But for each n everything they r paying in installment till the baby is comically scripted n showing the mindset of modernized world
